Mariko Aikawa took up botanical painting in 2004, following a career as a translator / interpreter at an Embassy in Tokyo. She became a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA), UK in 2009 and exhibited with them on numerous occasions.

I started botanical illustration in 2004. I drew wild flowers in my garden, exotic plants in a green house of a nearby botanical gardens, or sometimes vegetables in my fridge. Each piece is filled with my acute interests from time to time.
